Broomfield, one of the country’s best places to live

May 31, 2024

Broomfield landed on liveability.com’s 2023 Best Places to Live in the U.S, thanks to a thriving economy, outdoor activities and spectacular Rocky Mountain backdrop. Broomfield is well-deserving of its top 100 ranking, which takes into account education, transportation, job opportunities, health, safety, amenities, environment, transportation, and cost of living. Of course, this comes as no surprise to anyone who already calls our fair city home. Which got us thinking about a sort of love letter we wrote (in the form of a blog) a couple years ago. Considering Broomfield’s recent recognition, we’re proud to reshare it now.

Let us count the ways.
There is so much to love about Broomfield, Colorado, where do you even start? With a list, of course. The tricky part was narrowing it down to our top 7 (out of a possible 42,000 or so) but we managed to trim a little here and there so it’s an easily digested baker’s half-dozen. Bon appétit.

Art & Culture
Creativity is everywhere. Between Broomfield’s Art in Public Places program and the draw of nationally recognized artists and artisans to the Broomfield Days celebration, plus Front Range sunsets that’ll inspire one to take up painting, there is much for the right side of your brain to find stimulating. Baseline also partners with the Broomfield Council on the Arts and Humanities, a non-profit focused on the cultivation and sustainability of arts and culture in Broomfield, Colorado.

Commerce & Livelihood
Major employers like Ball Aerospace, CenturyLinkVail Resorts and Bega offer career opportunities in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering and Operations Management. For those with an entrepreneurial spirit, Broomfield’s well-educated workforce, and deep, early adopting consumer base makes it a great place to incubate and grow your own company. In fact, at Baseline, your place of business can be a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining top talent. Which is a concept already being proven in Baseline’s Innovation District.

Restaurants & Breweries
Often, when you live or work outside of an urban area you’re limited to the usual lineup of corporate eateries, each with plenty of flair and their own take on a deep-fried onion. We enjoy these places as much as the next guy, however, in Broomfield there are plenty of great local restaurants and breweries as forward-thinking chefs and brew masters look to feed an audience hungry (and thirsty) for something fresh. Some of our favorite local places include 4 Noses Brewing Co, Rails End Beer Co, Artista Deli & Coffee and Hickory & Ash just to name a few.

Outdoor Recreation & Attractions
So. Much. To. Do. Broomfield has an extensive trail system – including miles of paved trails for road cyclists and rolling single track for mountain bikers to dig their knobby tire into – that accesses expansive protected open lands featuring spectacular Flatirons and Longs Peak views. There is also McKay Lake Bike Park, in case you want to get a little air under your tires. Instead of handlebars you can grip a golf club at any of several great courses or Topgolf. Swim or slide at Bay Aquatic Park or hold Rosy the tarantula at Butterfly Pavilion. Then, at Broomfield Community Park, there’s a lighted sports field, batting cages, an outdoor pool, playgrounds and some of the city’s best events. And that’s just a small sample of the fun you can have, with even more great opportunities coming to Baseline, including the planned Butterfly Pavilion in its new home.

Schools & Smarts
Broomfield is served by both the highly rated Jefferson County and five-star Adams 12 School Districts, plus some great charter schools. Notable schools include Prospect Ridge Academy, a K-12 charter next door to Baseline, and Adam’s 12’s Thunder Vista K-8, also next door. A planned on-site Adams 12 STEM school will add yet another option. Just 20 miles to the west, University of Colorado at Boulder provides academic energy. Meanwhile, the Broomfield lifestyle inspires natural curiosity that leads to lifelong learning.

Location, Location & Location
Broomfield is convenient to Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park via Baseline Road, Interlocken and Flatiron Crossing via the Northwest Parkway, and Denver International Airport via E-470. Yet, if you’ve read all the way to here, you know that Broomfield is a pretty great place to be. So, we recommend simply staying put, pouring a fresh, local microbrew and watching the sunset over the Front Range.

Baseline & The Future
Broomfield is up-and-coming as a city. Baseline is a big part of that, a sustainable new community that breaks the suburban model. Baseline adds even more places to go and things to do with miles of trails, acres of parks and natural open space and recreation. Baseline’s future town center will bring more shops, restaurants and offices, which will pull the economic center of gravity farther north and east, forming the third point on the Denver/Boulder triangle. Finally, Baseline’s diverse new home offerings invite a more diverse mix of people to live in this exceptional city. In other words, Baseline is a good sign of things to come in Broomfield. And we couldn’t be more excited about the future.
