It might seem counterintuitive that great urban places almost always include great outdoor spaces. Think Millenium Park in Chicago. Or, of course, New York’s Central Park. Or Denver’s very own City Park. These are some of the examples that have inspired Baseline to weave parks, trails and Colorado nature into the fabric of our decidedly urban-flavored community.
And we’re delighted to report that the creation of parks in Baseline is moving along quite nicely, thank you very much. Consider this a Baseline parks progress report.
Parklands
As you might guess from the name, Parklands is a park of many parks. And it’s the crown jewel of Baseline’s green infrastructure plan. When finished, it will total 62 acres and include a variety of distinct outdoor experiences that follow along Preble Creek. We’re off to a good start on Parklands (see below), and there’s more to come soon (see below-er).
Big Green
We just celebrated the grand opening of this first major piece of Parklands. The broad community lawn of the Big Green is an invitation to picnic, dance in the grass at a live concert or just lie back and look for cloud animals.
Rally Park
If Parklands is the centerpiece of all the park spaces in Baseline, Rally Park is the centerpiece of the centerpiece. Planned to break ground this summer and open next summer, Rally Park is named for all the ways people will rally here. On the basketball courts. On the pickleball courts. Gathering at the open-air pavilion. Walking or biking together along the trails. Or rallying to the top of the climbing wall.
Little Green
Settle back and read a book in one of the shaded hammocks. Take a stroll down pollinator garden pathways. Let the kids clamber around on the log gym. Or come out for a pleasant evening with friends on the plaza.
Park Lane
Park Lane isn’t exactly a park. It is Colorado’s very first woonerf — that is, a Dutch-style living street. It’s a thoroughfare designed exclusively for walking and gathering, with benches, picnic tables and festival lights. And it’s the perfect pedestrian-first connector between Little Green and Big Green.
Checker Square
The essential neighborhood play space, Checker Square is where you let the kids burn off some bounciness while you sit and catch up with the neighbors.
The Basin
The Basin is a purist’s park. Simply a sprawling lawn space bordered by a trail. Because sometimes, that’s all you need.
The Quad
The custom benches and picnic tables were made right here in Baseline. And the hammocks and lighted walkways create an inviting, relaxing ambiance.
The Backyard
Another park coming in the not too distant future, The Backyard is designed as a simple neighborhood-gathering, ball-tossing, summer-day-picnicking spot.
Add it all up and what it means is that a home in Baseline is a home that’s an easy walk or bike ride to at least one park. And with a nice selection of homes available for quick move-in, you could be playing at the park sooner than you think. To get started, explore our homes.
