We are buzzing with excitement over Honey Bee Day. There will be live music, food trucks, up-cycling crafts for kids, giveaways and more!

We love bees —and all pollinators —at Baseline. As Colorado’s first pollinator district, we’re celebrating these tiny powerhouses, essential to our well-being and our planet’s health.

Make a beeline to Checker Square at 16555 Shoshone Street from 10:30am-2pm.  The first 24 children on site will walk away with a special Baseline Bee Bag!  Not to fret, we have gift bags for all our kiddos, you will need one for all the crafts and giveaways!  If you ride your bike to the park, our friends from Smart Commute will be onsite to store it in our bike valet.

From 10:30am-11:30am, be mystified by our Juggling Bees.  Starting at 11:30am Baseline’s majestic Queen Bee sway pole aerialist will dazzle with performances every 30 minutes.

The Diamond Edwards Duo will be onsite all day to fill the park with groovin’ tunes and a repertoire of the best classic rock has to offer.

Throughout the day you can learn about bees and beekeeping as well as all pollinators from experts at Butterfly Pavilion. They will help explain the value of becoming a pollinator district, where thoughtful, sustainable community design increases and enhances habitat for pollinators.  Be sure to sign the People and Pollinator Action Network pledge to be a Pollinator Safe Property to help do your part in the overall pollinator ecosystem.

Peruse bee-friendly products, such as honey and beauty products from local vendors.  And help bring our Art Garden to life with the Broomfield Council on the Arts & Humanities.  They will have other fun nature themed crafts for kids of all ages to enjoy.

Get your gardening questions answered at the “Ask a Master Gardener” booth hosted by Broomfield’s CSU Extension.  Learn more about composting and ways to get your hands dirty in a local garden in and around Baseline with Denver Urban Gardens.  And at the Baseline tent, sign up to be one of our Citizen Scientist and learn how you can help actual scientists grow and preserve our pollinator friends.

With so much to see and do, you are sure to work up an appetite. Pick up lunch from Cupbop- Korean BBQ, serving unique Korean dishes with their own special brand of fun.  Wrap your day and cool off with a handcrafted gelato pop from HipPop.
